A fine dining restaurant & tavern all in one. Loved equally by locals and travelers. I have enjoyed the local music on Wednesday for years, and the bands on Friday night have been excellent too. Big names from all over the country. Not to mention, our family has celebrated many a birthdays and anniversaries here over the years. We love what Mark and Margaret have built in Pawlet and look forward to supporting it for all the years to come! Definitely, worth a trip! Excellent food and a warm, inviting atmosphere.
The Barn catered our wedding and did an outstanding job all around. Mark and Margaret are a flawless team. Mark handles a lot of the business and Margaret does the lion's share of the cooking, but what makes them special is their experience working together to make major events go smoothly. The food received countless compliments, many saying it wast the best wedding food they'd ever had. Mark sat down with us beforehand and planned the menu in detail, even substituting some ingredients we specially requested (goat cheese instead of feta for the salads and gluten free versions of specific items, for example). The dessert table display and Margaret's custom cake was jaw-dropping. They were thoroughly accommodating from start to finish, and helped us work within a budget. Overall, we were thrilled and we look forward to stopping back in to the restaurant next time we are back in town!
Food is pretty good and there is both a fancy restaurant upstairs and a casual tavern downstairs. You get 2 menus and can order from either. Can be pricy depending on what You order and some of our steaks were not cooked quite to what we liked. But the tavern is great for groups and has live music every Friday! Upstairs is better for couples or small groups. Overall a good experience but not quite perfection.
Mark and Margaret and The Barn catered our wedding in Vermont and it was phenomenal. They set up the bar with matching decor and delicious mixed drinks. The food was amazing, all cooked perfectly. They made fresh Cider Donuts at the end of the night in a repurposed horse trailer and they we amazing! Mark was very accommodating and great to work with. Thanks for an amazing night!
We live out of town and visit The Barn twice every summer. Fantastic service! The freshest food for all pallets. Very reasonable prices. Generous drinks. Lovely, cozy, rustic ambiance. 2 floors. Live music on Friday in the downstairs tavern. Outdoor seating in the warmer months. Ask for Megan to be your server. She's fantastic! (Although everyone else is pretty great too.) My mom and her friends live near The Barn and have dinner there every Friday.
